Tasting hour this week will be dedicated to one of our best local producers, Truly Scrumptious Pates from Chester.

Before we opened the first shop we trawled every food festival and farmers markets for miles around looking for really good, handmade products. We travelled far and wide, and then found Truly Scrumptious up the road at West Kirby Farmers Market! Truly Scrumptious was founded by Yvonne and Sarah, two lovely ladies from Chester, who had primarily been selling through markets and fairs. We were one of the first shops to stock there patés and they have been incredibly popular. So what's their secret? Just really fresh local ingredients with nothing else added, it's that simple.

The cornerstone of their range is there beautiful chicken liver paté, which has a lovely rich flavour and beautiful texture. Great with some crusty bread and some of our La Chinata caramelised onion chutney. A paté likes this goes really well with a red Bordeaux, our Chateâu Siaurac is a perfect match. There's also a chicken liver paté with port and cranberry, which has a lovely additional sweetness, and the Mexicana which has some extra spicyness.

In addition to their meat patés Truly Scrumptious also make some fabulous fish and vegetarian patés and spreads. Their smoked salmon paté is the best we've ever tasted, great for canapés, we use it a lot on our tasting events (it's the perfect match to any fizz!). We also regularly stock their mushroom paté, great on it's own or as an accompaniment to cold meats.

We'll have these gorgeous patés on tasting this Saturday from 11-12. We'll also be trying some new flavours which we don't have on the shelves yet, give them a try and let us know what you think. We love getting your help when deciding what new products to stock!

It's also our 1st birthday in Frodsham this Saturday so pop in the shop from 1pm for cake and fizz!!!
