No, we're not going all Game of Thrones on you, these Dragon Eggs are something amazingly different for Easter and we're thrilled to be able to say they're available in our Heswall and Frodsham stores. Made by well-known local chocolatiers, Chris and Natalie at Éponine, we thought it would be good to hear what they had to say about their medieval new creation in chocolate! Chris and Natalie wanted to create something a bit different, less commercial and more organic than the standard chocolate egg. "Choosing a mythical creature to base them on really gave us free reign when it came to creativity, and we went through several trials and techniques before cracking these eggs!"
The idea of producing a Dragon Egg clearly gave them a lot to work with. These are no normal Easter Egg and the decoration has clearly been painstaking! "Due to the high level of decoration, we chose two contrasting themes of fire and water to differentiate the milk and dark chocolate eggs. The milk chocolate 'fire' egg combines a flame red shell with bold, bronzed scales, all placed on an earthy base of milk chocolate with pieces of roasted cocoa bean. For the dark chocolate lovers out there, we created a 'sea' egg, swirled with blues and whites, accented by delicate fish-like scales hued with silver."
Each handmade egg is unique and crafted using ultra-premium French chocolate, with a selection of praline chocolates hidden inside. That does of course mean you have to break them open to get to your chocolates, but don't worry - these eggs taste just as good as they look!
