Tasting Note

Deep reddish purple, with opulent red fruit and distinctly spicy notes of black pepper and cinnamon on the nose. The luscious combination of fruit, spices and toasted notes is the result of this atypical blend of Petit Verdot and Malbec. In the mouth it is smooth, fruity and harmonious, echoing the same red and black fruit but also with bright notes of grenadine, complemented by violet and liquorice.

About the Producer

The estate is a complex mix of geological and climatic influences at the confluence of the terroirs of the Corbières, Limoux, the Malpère, the Cabardès and the Minervois and the winemakers at Calmel & Joseph have put biodiversity and organic method at the heart of their growing and production techniques. The climate is typically Mediterranean, with mists that form due to the proximity to the Alaric hills causing the temperatures to be generally lower and the rainfall greater than in sectors just a few kilometres away in the direction of Narbonne.
