TASTING NOTE

A big customer favourite in store at W&W, this is full bodied with robust notes of black fruit and parma-violets on the nose. The palate is rich and dense with brooding black fruit compote and peppery oak notes.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

The Goatfather is from the Goats do Roam stable of Fairview, owned by renowned winemaker, Charles Back. The name Goats do Roam is more than just a funky piece of marketing - goats which were part of the flock that produced the milk for Fairview's cheeses, and one day Charles' young son, Jason, accidentally left the paddock gate open and some escaped and began roaming the vineyards, plucking the best fruit from the vines as they went along! They obviously had good taste!!

The Barbera comes from Paarl and Swartland, the Cabernet from Stellenbosch, Sangiovese from Darling and Nebbiolo from Paarl. The grapes are harvested and independently vinified in stainless steel before undergoing malolactic conversion in 225 litre barriques for 13 months. The wine was then matured in a mixture of French and American oak before lightly filtering and bottling.
