Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc
TASTING NOTE
A melange of nectarines, pears and peaches on the nose and palate with a hint of orange peel, blackcurrant leaves and nettles. The wine is dry, crisp and zesty but with succulent fruit notes.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Greywacke was created in 2009 by legendary winemaker, Kevin Judd, of Cloudy Bay fame. The name was taken from the round greywacke stones in the soils of the vineyards of Marlborough.
Fruit for this wine was sourced from various sites within the Marlborough region. Once at the winery, the grapes were gently pressed and the juice cold settled prior to fermentation in stainless steel. Most was fermented cool using cultured yeast, but a small portion was allowed to ferment using indigenous yeasts at a warmer temperature. The individual batches were left on their lees for a couple of months then assembled for the final blend and bottled.
