Destiny Bay Magna Praemia
TASTING NOTE
This blend is dominated by deep press fractions of Cabernet Sauvignon and is reminiscent of a 'Left Bank' Bordeaux style wine. Optimum balance and character are achieved through the addition of free-run and press fractions of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. Fine, dense tannins give this wine great structure and long-term aging potential. The name Magna Praemia is latin for 'great rewards'.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Destiny Bay is one of New Zealand's top producers. The vineyard is based on Waiheke Island, a place as close to heaven as you'll find. The vineyard is in a corner in the south of the island, gently contoured like an ancient amphitheatre, sheltering wines of impeccable lineage, where the alchemy of winemaking combines old world traditions, new world techniques and a timeless passion for excellence.
Owner and winemaker Sean Spratt has really found a great location with its unique soils and favourable micro-climate. As such, grape growing is like nowhere else, and the resulting wines are truly fabulous!
