Riverby Estate Sauvignon Blanc
TASTING NOTE
A ripe and zesty Kiwi Sauvignon; full of blackcurrant leaves and asparagus on the nose. The palate is fresh, with vibrant acidity, in complete harmony with ripe gooseberry fruit and blackcurrant leaf flavours. The finish is long and lingering. A delicious example of a classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc!
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Riverby Estate is a boutique wine estate occupying a prime site in Marlborough, being situated next door to iconic winery Cloudy Bay. In 1989 vines were first planted and grapes are now grown on the estate vineyard by descendants of the Matthews family, who have been farming the property for over 100 years. The land was originally used for cropping and sheep farming. Now over 70 hectares are planted out in Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Semillon, Syrah and Gruner Veltliner.
The Riverby name originated from the Opawa River and its tributaries, which meandered through the property. In the 1930s, the river was diverted to avert flooding in the area. The rainbow trout on the Riverby label is a symbol of the fish that used to swim where grapes are now grown.
We at Whitmore & White are massive fans of the Riverby Estate wines and you'll find a comprehensive selection on our shelves.
