TASTING NOTE

It is deep, rich, bright gold in colour and has spell-binding aromatics. The luscious, rich, enticing nose displays dried fruits, apricots and peaches, on a backdrop of honey and a little spice. The prevailing impression is of rich, candied, dried fruits. On the palate it is succulent and mouth coating with an extraordinary sweetness and richness. Very ripe stone fruit characters dominate, especially apricots and peaches, with hints of passionfruit and citrus. Honey is readily apparent and also a lovely almost almondy character that adds a real texture to the palate. It has bright, beautifully appealing, well balanced acidity, a lusciously creamy sweetness and an incredibly lingering, crisp, clean finish. Already drinking beautifully, this wine promises to develop even more complexity and charm given careful cellaring.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Riverby Estate is a boutique wine estate occupying a prime site in Marlborough, being situated next door to iconic winery Cloudy Bay. In 1989 vines were first planted and grapes are now grown on the estate vineyard by descendants of the Matthews family, who have been farming the property for over 100 years. The land was originally used for cropping and sheep farming. Now over 70 hectares are planted out in Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Semillon, Syrah and Gruner Veltliner.
