TASTING NOTE

A wine with a pale golden hue. On the nose the wine is a rich and ripe style of Chardonnay with plentiful aromas of of peach, pineapple and butter. The palate is smooth and well balanced with tropical fruit notes and a creamy, buttery finish. If this delicious wine was from Burgundy, you'd be paying twice the price!

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Riverby Estate is a boutique wine estate occupying a prime site in Marlborough, being situated next door to iconic winery Cloudy Bay. In 1989 vines were first planted and grapes are now grown on the estate vineyard by descendants of the Matthews family, who have been farming the property for over 100 years. The land was originally used for cropping and sheep farming. Now over 70 hectares are planted out in Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Semillon, Syrah and Gruner Veltliner.

The Riverby name originated from the Opawa River and its tributaries, which meandered through the property. In the 1930s, the river was diverted to avert flooding in the area. The rainbow trout on the Riverby label is a symbol of the fish that used to swim where grapes are now grown.

We at Whitmore & White are massive fans of the Riverby Estate wines and you'll find a comprehensive selection on our shelves.
