Château Beaumont, Haut-Médoc
Producer Note
Château Beaumont produces classic Cru Bourgeois offering delicious, good value drinking. The estate is under the ownership of the same group that manages Châteaux Beychevelle and Lagrange. Geographically, it is strategically situated between the appellations of Saint-Julien and Margaux. The estate's beautiful turreted château, a testament to 19th-century architecture, dates back to 1854. Its construction was commissioned by the affluent Bonin brothers, however their tenure was relatively brief, lasting only a decade, after which the property underwent a changes of hands, including a notable stint with a relative of South American revolutionary, Simón Bolivar. Château Beaumont features a single block vineyard of 113 hectares, planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. It is farmed with Integrated Viticulture practices in mind - aiming to produce the best quality grapes with the greatest respect for the environment.
Tasting Note
The 2019 offers a lovely, delineated bouquet of blackberry, briary and light tobacco notes. The palate is medium-bodied, with grainy tannins and a charming, nicely balanced finish.
