Boekenhoutskloof The Wolftrap White
TASTING NOTE
An alluring nose shows white peach, apricot and apple blossom aromas with hints of pineapple. The wine is smooth and round with slight oak nuances, a fleshy mid-palate, and a lingering stone fruit finish.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Boekenhoutskloof (Book-in-hotes-kloof), based in Franschhoek, was established in 1776. Located in the furthest corner of the beautiful Franschhoek valley, the farm's name means "ravine of the Boekenhout", the Boekenhout being an indigenous Cape Beech tree.
In 1993 the farm and homestead was bought and restored and a new vineyard planting programme was established. Cellarmaster Marc Kent has had a stellar career and built an international reputation as one of South Africa's greatest wine makers and Boekenhoutskloof has gained cult status due to wines that reflect the varieties used as much as the soil they come from. His small batch production ideology and passionate wine making coupled to an extrovert character and a penchant for loud shirts have created a demand for his wine that is the envy of his contemporaries.
