The colour is a deep garnet red with reflections of old pink. The nose is an intense, fruity aroma reminiscent of raspberries, jam, and violets that give an ethereal feeling accompanied by sweet spicy notes and hints of cocoa. In the mouth, Autinbej is warm, long, persistent and slightly tannic with an aftertaste of fruity notes.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Located in the town of Treiso, in the province of Cuneo in the Langhe region, Ca' del Baio was founded in 1929 by Giuseppe Grasso and is today managed by his great-grandson Giulio, his wife Luciana and their three daughters Paola, Valentina and Federica. Ca' del Baio has 20 hectares of vineyards, located in Treiso and Barbaresco that are planted with Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, Barbera, Moscato and Chardonnay. The Nebbiolo, which is destined for the Barbaresco DOC is divided into 4 crus (single vineyards bottling): Vallegrande, Marcarini, Asili and Pora. The family philosophy is that wine is made in the vineyard where the typicity of particular grape varieties is preserved. Old clones are nurtured, and work is carried out with passion and experience, day after day, season after season. The wines of Ca' del Baio are born out of this close relationship, which begins in the vineyard and continues in the winery. Over the years, Ca’ del Baio has acquired a prominent position in the world of Barbaresco, once known simply as Barolo’s ‘Little Brother’ but today gaining a worldwide appreciation and admiration. The family’s reputation was recently raised even higher with Giulio awarded ‘Viticulturist of the Year’ at the Gambero Rosso, Vini d’Italia 2016
