Beronia Rioja Reserva
TASTING NOTE
This is bright ruby red in colour, with intense aromas of redcurrant and strawberry with vanilla and oak. Aged for 18 months in oak barrels, and then aged in bottle for a further 18 months. There is rich and ripe red fruit on the palate with a long finish of sweet vanilla-oak.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
In the Basque region of Northern Spain there is an old tradition of 'Gastronomic Societies', where men with a passion for food and for wine meet to cook, eat and drink. One such group of friends firmly believed they could produce fine wines to complement their culinary skills. The result: Bodegas Beronia, named after the Berones, a warring Celtic tribe who inhabited the area in the 3rd Century BC.
In 1982 Gonzalez Byass purchased the Bodega and as such, Beronia has grown to become one of the most popular Riojas in Spain.
