  • The Grape & The Groove #3

    Whitmore & White / July 6, 2019.

My latest marriage of grape and groove tells the tale of how a Mexican guitar virtuoso was inspired by a boozy New York saxophonist to write a tune that would enthrall a celebrated author and grace a sunset over Spain’s North Atlantic coast. The grape is Albariño and the groove is Santana’s “Samba Pa Ti”, and the story starts in the Rías Baixas region of Galicia.  Continue reading

We like to keep you all on your toes here at W&W, so we're thrilled to welcome plenty of new wines onto our shelves this month! In the first part of our four-part blog series about some of our new wines we are having a bit of a round the world trip to introduce the first six. We’ll visit Germany and Italy in Europe then hop over to Australia for a trio of reds followed by a voyage across the Pacific to Chile’s coast.  Continue reading

  • Casa Silva Wine

    Whitmore & White / May 1, 2019.

I think it’s safe to say that here at Whitmore & White we are huge fans of the wines of multi award-winning Vina Casa Silva in Chile. Established in 1997 by Mario Pablo Silva and his father and based in the Colchagua Valley, in a very short space of time this family-run estate is projecting outwards to some of the surrounding areas to bring us wine-lovers a very special range of wines. Continue reading

  • The Grape & The Groove #2

    Whitmore & White / March 29, 2019.

In the midst of this Brexit chaos we invite you to take a step back and pour yourself a young, innovative English whisky whilst listening to the hard won wisdom of an oft-overlooked songwriting master. Cotswold Distillery meet Roy Harper! Continue reading

  • The Grape & The Groove #1

    Whitmore & White / February 4, 2019.

Beyond my family, the two biggest passions in my life are music and wine. So I was rather excited when I was asked to do a series of blogs partnering the grape and the groove! Far more than food and wine matching, this is a very subjective topic, which will hopefully be made even more intriguing as both W&W’s range of wine, and my music taste are pretty eclectic.  Continue reading

  • Waverley Hills Wine

    Whitmore & White / December 8, 2018.

"It’s not often you go on holiday, and come home having bought a pallet of wine. The perils of being a wine importer can be expensive but hey, it’s a filthy job, and someone has to apply themselves!" Not your average souvenir agreed, but these sensational Waverley Hills wines, well off the beaten tourist trail on this gorgeous vineyard could not be ignored! UK importer Katy Paddle of Black Dog Wine Agency tells us more... Continue reading

  • Plum Sake - The Star of the East this Christmas

    Whitmore & White / December 7, 2018.

I’m sure you’ll agree that nothing screams Christmas like Plum Sake. What? You’ve never even heard of Plum Sake?!! Fair enough, nor had I until a few years ago, but now, along with Bing Crosby, Burgundy, and Star Wars Lego, it’s on my Christmas essentials list. Continue reading

  • Some Young Punks

    Whitmore & White / November 26, 2018.

Something bold, exciting and a little bit sensual has been causing quite a stir here at Whitmore & White these past few weeks. All the way from the land down under, where women glow and men plunder, we have acquired two absolutely phenomenal wines from a group of three friends who decided to combine their skills and make game-changing wine crammed full with as much charisma and sass as they are. The guilty suspects? None other than Some Young Punks.  Continue reading

  • Port & Cheese

    Whitmore & White / November 25, 2018.

Port: that rich, silky, heady elixir that’s been a staple of the British festive dining table for centuries. For many, a bottle of Port coupled with a fragrant array of cheese is the gastronomic highlight of Christmas day. But there are many different types of Port, and a whole world of cheese out there, so which Port suits which cheese? Is it all just about Stilton? Luckily as purveyors of fine cheese and Port, we have the answers! But first, what is Port and where does it come from?  Continue reading

  • Mixed Case Fine Wine

    Whitmore & White / November 25, 2018.

There’s an old saying that can be attributed to many things but always seems more pertinent when it comes to wine: ”Life’s too short to drink bad wine”. We’ve always advocated that spending a little more will get you a lot more bang for your buck, so I've put together a mixed case of wine that I think show the finer side of wine to you the consumer; increased concentration of flavours, limited production, more time and effort given in making the wine and wines that give class in a glass. Continue reading
