  • Graham's Cheese Moment - Caws Cenarth Caerphilly

    Whitmore & White / March 1, 2019.

Today is St. David's Day, a day of daffodils, leeks and dragons which means it must be time for us to stand well back and let Graham slip into another of his Cheese Moments. Graham often waxes lyrical about the time he cooked a midnight feast of cheese on toast for Gruffudd ap Llywelyn whilst working as the royal poisoner of wine goblets in the court of Edward the Confessor, The only cheese fit for a king? Why, Caerphilly of course!  Continue reading

  • The Grape & The Groove #1

    Whitmore & White / February 4, 2019.

Beyond my family, the two biggest passions in my life are music and wine. So I was rather excited when I was asked to do a series of blogs partnering the grape and the groove! Far more than food and wine matching, this is a very subjective topic, which will hopefully be made even more intriguing as both W&W’s range of wine, and my music taste are pretty eclectic.  Continue reading

  • Graham's Cheese Moment - Langres

    Whitmore & White / February 1, 2019.

Has it really been a whole month since the delight of Graham's January Cheese Moment? This month, Graham has mainly been dreaming about his previous life as a jester in the court of Louis XIV of France, who paid him personally in cheese. Whilst he may have shed the bells on his toes, Graham is still paid his salary in cheese. This month, he's rich with Langres. Continue reading

  • Garden Swift Gin

    Whitmore & White / January 28, 2019.

When it comes to gin, particularly those gins lucky enough to be coupled with the word ‘craft’, I think there’s a collective desire amongst many drinkers for a provenance that involves some rustic alchemist who resides just down the lane from Frodo in middle earth. Alas, the pretty bottle with ‘small batch’ and ‘artisan’ plastered all over its label, is all too often Continue reading

  • Graham's Cheese Moment - La Tur

    Whitmore & White / January 5, 2019.

It's the beginning of another month and of course another year, so it's about time we wheeled Graham out of his cupboard for another cheese moment. So without further ado, here's the man himself with this month's cheese, La Tur. Continue reading

  • Whitmore Gin Cured Salmon

    Whitmore & White / December 12, 2018.

Curing Salmon in gin is one of the simplest forms of curing, but don’t think that makes it any the less delicious! The delicate freshness of the fish is the perfect canvas for the aromatics of so fine a gin as Whitmore Gin. Its distinctive jasmine, cubeb pepper and pink grapefruit impart gloriously on the fish, and its high alcohol content help firm up the flesh. Sliced either finely - or indeed thick, as I like it - it makes an interesting and impressive starter to the Christmas lunch. Continue reading
