Gordon & MacPhail Whisky Discovery

Gordon & Macphail, the family owned creators of single malt Scotch whisky have released a new range of malts under the “Discovery” labelling, which are designed to introduce new whisky drinkers to a selection that represents the diversity of this wonderful spirit, whilst at the same time aiming to help more seasoned whisky lovers to explore a wider whisky portfolio.

They are keeping it simple by colour-coding the labels into three flavour profiles - Bourbon, Sherry, and Smoky. The spirits come from six distilleries and are matured in hand-picked casks by Gordon and Macphail themselves. By doing this, G&M have managed to hit a perfect price-point with this range, making single malt more accessible and tempting than ever before!

So without further ado, what is on offer?

Whisky Discovery Whisky Discovery
Bourbon Matured

Tomatin 2007

Notes of elderflower and apple blossom on the nose. The palate is smooth with cocoa notes and the finish has a lovely herbal edge to it

Balblair 12yo

A citrus zest and butter edge to the nose. The palate is very creamy with lemon notes coming through. The finish is long in a buttery-croissant style

Sherry Matured

Miltonduff 10yo

A spicy nose is followed by a rich and chocolate driven palate with a hint of stewed fruit on the lengthy finish

Bunnahabhain 11yo

The edge is taken off the subtle smokiness associated with the Bunnahabhain malts. This is full of cocoa on the nose and dried fruits and mixed nuts on the palate and finish.

Smoky Heavily Peated

Caol Ila 13yo

This is like walking into a smokehouse - dry-cured meats on the nose with a sweet, almost honeyed palate and a tropical fruit edge to the finish.

Ledaig 12yo

A smoldering bonfire of a malt. Powerful, phenolic nose with sweet, stewed plums and figs on the palate and a subtle citrus hint to the finish.

All of these whiskies are available online and in store.

Until Next Time
