Whitmore & White Chester

Well we did it! We opened the door to store number four at 4 Godstall Lane in Chester! And we've also let the cat out of the bag about our Secret Tasting Room! Surprise!

Our lovely new Chester store brings our gorgeous foods and wines from around the world into the city centre alongside our famous wine and gin tastings! Plus, to get things off to a good start, we've announced our Grand Wine Tasting event at the beautiful Chester Cathedral on 20th September 2018! We're really looking forward to coming back to what our owners and managers see as "home"!

Tom Scargill, Whitmore & White Chester Manager says: “I’m Chester born and bred and have always wanted to be part of any exciting and individual ventures happening in the city. Boutique, independent businesses are an important part of keeping Chester vibrant. It’s a beautiful city and a natural destination for shoppers, so exploring exciting new food and drink should be part of the Chester experience. The city centre has many, many quality independent coffee shops, restaurants and bars, but food and drink isn’t represented as well in a retail sense.

I ran a wine shop in the city centre for years and couldn’t believe there wasn’t a delicatessen. Obviously, there’s the amazing ‘The Cheese Shop’ but other than that, Chester’s foodies were getting a raw deal: now they’re not. The unique thing Whitmore & White offers to Chester is that all this fine food and drink is under one roof. This is best represented by our superb hampers and I think that come Christmas they’re going to be the ‘must have’ gift for every Cestrian food and drink lover, or local business hoping to wow clients.”

We'll also be bringing our wine tasting events to Chester, held in our quirky 15th century cellar which has been transformed into a unique entertaining space.

“I’ve been doing tastings for over a decade and the opportunity to talk wine to customers is my favourite part of the job”, says Tom, “I’m really excited to bring wine, gin and whisky tastings back to the city centre and I’m lucky to have a dedicated tasting room to host them in. This is also open during the weekend, giving us the chance to really show off! Customers can come along and have myself or another one of our knowledgeable team take them through some of our favourite wines. Alternatively, they can sample our very own Whitmore Gin or current best seller Chester Gin. No cost, it’s just what we love doing!

I’m most excited about our upcoming portfolio tasting at Chester Cathedral on 20th September. What a perfect venue to announce ourselves to the city. Let the wine flow and Chester be merry!”

Joe Whittick, Whitmore & White’s owner has thought of everything to cater for everyone.  In addition to the food and drink available in the store, there are gifts and hampers for all occasions.  Most of their products are available through their online shop, where you can also build your own bespoke hamper and have it delivered anywhere in the UK.  You can book one of the tasting events and sign up for the Whitmore & White Wine School online too.

Whitmore & White can be found at 4 Godstall Lane, Chester, which runs between Eastgate Street and Chester Cathedral.
