Free Local Delivery during Coronavirus Outbreak



The rapidly changing situation in relation to the Coronavirus COVID19 outbreak has led Joe and I to think about how we can continue to serve our customers through this difficult period, as well as protect our business from the worst of the economic impact. We have therefore decided to start delivering to the areas around our Heswall and Frodsham shops from 18th March 2020. UPDATE - as of 14th April we have added Chester to our free local delivery area! This will be a free service covering the areas shown in pink on the map below.

I am sure I don't need to explain to anyone what a madly challenging time this is for businesses like ours, and all we can ask for is the ongoing support of our customers and we can't thank those of you who regularly shop with us enough for making sure we're still here on the other side of this bewildering turn of events.

What's available?

Everything we sell in store is available for free local delivery. We have added all of our fresh produce in a new section online called Fresh Local and items in this section are only available for local delivery. Wine, Spirits and Beer and Non-Perishable Groceries are available using the menu above as usual.

So where will we deliver to?

We've coloured in a map below as a rough guide to our free local delivery area we can service around each shop location. National delivery of wine, spirits, beer and non-perishable groceries is still available as usual, as is our Create Your Own Hamper service.

How do you order?

At checkout online, please select "Free Local Delivery" as your delivery option.

When will it arrive?

If you order anytime in the week before 12 noon Wednesday, your order should arrive between Thursday and Saturday unless otherwise advised. If we're busy, this will push over onto a Sunday as well. If you miss the cut off time, we're operating on the basis that if we can get you onto that week's delivery rounds, we will. Remember, it's just us and the van, we're not a logistics company and we cannot offer time slots. We're just going to do our best.

Can I still collect in store?

Yes, but only in Heswall & Frodsham where we have a strict one-in-one-out policy in effect.

What if I am outside the pink boundary on the map?

You can still order as usual for delivery by Parcelforce using the "Standard Delivery" option. Note that Parcelforce have suspended all of their 24 and 48 hour delivery guarantees, but our experience so far is that they are largely achieving this timescale.

Is there a minimum spend for free local delivery?

Not for the time being. We'd obviously be grateful for orders which make delivery worthwhile for us, but there is no minimum spend.

Can I speak to someone?

Always! Use the numbers above during usual opening hours to speak to one of our staff in store.

Is this list of questions ever going to end?
